The accused persons, Rumok David, Mgbachi Chibuzo, his company, Bonicks Investment and the vessel, which conveyed the waste into the country, MV Marivia, were charged on a three-count charge bordering on the offence.
The prosecutor, who is a deputy director, department of public prosecution of the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Akin Akintewe, said David on or about January 2013 in Lagos did import without lawful authority electronic harmful waste in 40ft container containing a mixture of functioning and non-functioning electrical/electronic equipment imported in a vessel named MV Marivia.
