AFTER weeks of controversy that trailed the alleged hunt for the Chairman of Bi-Courtney Services Limited, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN), by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)), he was arraigned before an Ikeja High Court Thursday on a 27-count charge bordering on money laundering.
Babalakin, who was declared wanted on Wednesday, made a surprise appearance at the crowded courtroom presided over by Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo. He was arraigned alongside Alex Okoh, three of their companies, Bi-Courtney Ltd, Stabilini Visioni Ltd and Renix Nigeria Limited for laundering about N4.7 billion on behalf of the convicted former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori.
The EFCC had declared Babalakin wanted only a day earlier for his alleged failure to report to the anti-graft agency’s office in defiance of his earlier bail condition.
