Jesus preaches today on the wrong use of our gifts, especially wealth. He uses the story of Lazarus and the rich man to teach us. In Nigeria, for instance, where we have so much wealth but over 90% of the people live below the poverty line, the government and the clergy compete for private jets, convoys of jeeps and choice properties with money belonging to the people. This cannot continue. We are overheating the system and it will soon burst. Let us be on guard! Also read Jeremiah 17:5-10; Psalm 1:1-4, 6. PRAYER: 'LORD, help me to always reach out to people who are less fortunate, to people who due to certain circumstances beyond their control have become unable to cater for themselves, to people who earnestly wish to work but could not find jobs, to people who would gladly do business but lack the capital and the ideas, to people who look up to me for care and provision. Also help me to manage in justice the commonwealth entrusted to me. In Jesus Mighty Name. Amen'.
